Home for Christmas
Hello,
We made it just in time for christmas!
Luna got discharge from the Nicu December 19th 2022. When we arrived to the Nicu, we got the surprise that Luna was coming home that night, to be honest we were not full ready. A lot things to learn, the most important it was to lear how to do the TPN in our own.
Thank God, we got home health and we had a nurse to help us at home with Luna's care.
We learn from TPN preparation, GTube care, Ostomy Care. We came with a full schedule for doctor appoitments with different specialist, we were really scare. It was a lot emotions in between, i am not going to lie my biggest fear was during the night time. We did not have any machine a home where we will be whatching lunas heart beat, oxygen levels. Been so long in the hospital that you get just to the machines and sounds. I remember the first night at home i couldn't sleep just watching her that she was confortable, moving, breathing.
I did cry all the way from the hospital to our house, finally we were able to be all together under the same roof. As a family of 4.
Luna was our Christmas gift! We pray so much for her, all our family was very happy for us.
The Holidays pass by and we are already in January, we have a very important appoitnment with Luna's surgeon. They schedule her mayor surgery to reconnect luna's bowel. They decide to do it after her 1st year June 21,2023. As the date was getting closed we start planning Luna's baptisim and her 1st birthday!
Her 1st birthday was very special, seening her grown so much, realize how strong she is and been so little, oh my god! She is so brave, i am so proud of you mamas!!!!
As the days pass by we were getting closed to the date, we were so nervous for her, my anxiety was over the roof! i was not ready for this, I still remember that day, praying over the hours from the surgery, praying for a faster recovery and no complications.
It was a pretty intense moments, but God is Good! and she did amazing, her recovery was fast and she did not have any complications. We spend 10 days at the hospital until we got discharge and went back home!
As she continue to growing and recovering GI made the decition to reduce the hours on the TPN from 19 hours to 16 hours after her surgery, she did really well. We stay from 16 hrs at day for 7 days for a couple of months, went back to GI for check up and reduce her hours again from 16 hours to 12 hours. In the past last year we were at 12 hours at day but less days on it.
I know this will be a process, but she continue to improve and we are getting close.
Thank you for reading.
